The USAID/Southern Africa mission in Pretoria manages assistance programs that provide HIV/AIDS care, prevention and treatment; strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises; promote basic education and improve literacy rates; and combat gender-based violence. USAID also addresses regional development challenges, with programs that focus on increasing food security, protecting human rights, managing the environment, increasing access to energy, promoting investment and regional trade, and creating an AIDS-free generation.
USAID/Southern Africa partners with Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe towards a goal of a more integrated region for an improved quality of life for Southern Africans.
